Renegades Beat Red Sox, 6-1
|
Hudson Valley starter Sergius Givins put a stranglehold on the Salem offense. The left-hander had complete command of his fastball in leading the Renegades to a 6-1 win. The winning pitcher was Givins, now 6-0. He tossed 6.1 innings of 2-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 4. The win for the Renegades raised their record to 38-32.
The Renegades got a big at-bat from center fielder Lee Britton. For the game, Britton was 1-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave Hudson Valley a 3-0 lead.
"Main thing is I want the team to win," Givins told a reporter after the game. "Just have to go out there, take care of my job, and give my team a chance to win."
