Blue Jays Reel In 5-1 Win
|
The Dunedin Blue Jays converted a terrific effort from starter Benjamin Powers into a win over the Tampa Tarpons at TicketReturn.com Field at Pelicans Ballpark. The Blue Jays won the game by a final score of 5-1. Powers picked up the win for Dunedin, going 5 innings. He gave up 1 run on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 5-2. T.J. Riggan was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 1 of 1 save opportunities.
Freddy Sarakul was 1 for 4 with a double. He scored 2 times for Dunedin. With one out and the game tied in the top of the sixth inning, Sarakul, who is tied for 6th in the ECL in home runs with 13, had a clutch at-bat. Facing Tampa hurler Alirio Contreras, he grounded out, driving in 1 run to give the Blue Jays a 2-1 lead.
"We were the better team today. Maybe that won't be the case next game, but we'll enjoy it for now," Sarakul told the Dunedin Times.
With the win, the Blue Jays have a record of 33-38.
