Dash Beat Blue Jays, 7-2
|
BB&T Ballpark was the site for East Coast League action featuring the Dunedin Blue Jays and Winston-Salem Dash.
Lincoln De La Cruz, who is tied for 4th in the ECL in wins with 7, was locked in. The left-hander led the Winston-Salem Dash to a 7-2 win against the Dunedin Blue Jays at BB&T Ballpark. In 6 innings, De La Cruz surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run.
Connor Wells went 2-5 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for Winston-Salem. The 23-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the bottom of the third. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Dominic Warner. It was his 25th RBI of the season.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Winston-Salem manager Brandon Holmes.
The win puts the Dash at 38-31, while the Blue Jays drop to 34-35.
