Victory Pushes Marauders Record to 41-28
|
The Bradenton Marauders downed the Virginia Beach Mariners, 8-3, the largest share of the credit belonging to first baseman Austin Mohatt. On the day, Mohatt went 2-4 with 2 doubles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Marauders. Paul Hobkirk picked up the win, lifting his record to 4-2 on the season. He struck out 6 and walked 1 in 5.2 innings, while yielding 3 runs. The win puts the Marauders at 41-28, while the Mariners drop to 37-32.
Craig Bryan had a big 2-run home run for the Marauders in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Bradenton trailing 2-1 and a runner on 2nd, he got a sinker from Ric Rice and swatted a home run to right. It was his 4th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Marauders ahead, 3-2.
"We'll grab a cold beverage tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Mohatt said.
