|
The Salem Red Sox stymied the Traverse City Pit Spitters, 3-1, at Salem Memorial Baseball Stadium. Sterling Vaughn had a good day at the plate. He went 3 for 3 with 3 singles for Salem. The winner in relief was Butch Tingtong. He is now 3-2. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 3.1 innings. Luke Cody saved it for Salem.
With the game tied, 1-1, in the bottom of the sixth, Vaughn had a key at-bat for Salem. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Vaughn hit a run-scoring single off Gabe Mattox, making the score 2-1, Red Sox.
