Mariners Take Tight Tango, 2-1
|
Virginia Beach ruined an otherwise fine effort from Rick Cichocki by toppling Frederick, 2-1. The Frederick pitcher threw 7.2 innings of 4-hit ball. Aiden DiSano recorded the save, his 13th. The Mariners are now 30-26.
Junior Castaneda had a direct impact on the outcome. Castaneda contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put Virginia Beach up, 2-1.
"We hit some balls hard and didn't get rewarded for it," said Frederick manager Jordan Ranjel.
