Flyers Stymie Charlotte, Take 7-1 Win
|
The Cocoa Flyers earned a win at G. Richard Pfitzner Stadium, stopping the Charlotte Stone Crabs, 7-1. Starting pitcher Emmanuel Carrasco played a big role in his team's success. Carrasco yielded no runs over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 0, and struck out 5. His record improves to 2-4. The Flyers sport a record of 12-38.
Trey Coleman had a big 2-run triple for the Flyers in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Cocoa leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a sinker from Perry Maddox and swatted a triple to right-center. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Flyers ahead, 3-0.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Flyers manager Jeremy Milby. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
