Keys Lose Again, 5-4, to Mariners
|
The Virginia Beach Mariners topped the Frederick Keys, 5-4, in East Coast League action at Virginia Beach Ballpark. The standout performance belonged to Virginia Beach pitcher and Denton, Texas, native Liam Frese. The winner was Frese. He threw 5.0 innings of 4-hit ball. The loser was Zach Pavlak. Anthony Dunn finished to wrap up his 3rd save.
Maverick Berryman, who is tied for 6th in the ECL with a .344 batting average, helped out the Virginia Beach cause in the bottom of the first inning with a run-scoring walk. For the game, the left fielder went 1-2 with 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI.
"Liam was doing a good job pouring in strikes," said Virginia Beach manager Alex Salcedo.
Frederick is still trying to get off the schneid, having lost 6 in a row.
