Mariners Sneak Past Blue Jays, 3-2
|
The Virginia Beach Mariners found a way to sneak past the Dunedin Blue Jays, 3-2, in 10 innings. Virginia Beach pitcher Homer Sampson, for one, had a standout performance. Virginia Beach reliever Rick Hamzah picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Ricardo Deco absorbed the loss. Virginia Beach now sits at 20-22, while Dunedin falls to 29-13.
The Mariners got a clutch hit from designated hitter Micah McCue. In the bottom of the tenth, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Mariners.
"Getting ahead of the hitters was the key," said Sampson.
