Tampa Beats Florida, 7-4
|
The Tampa Tarpons defeated the Florida Fire Frogs, 7-4, at Osceola County Stadium. E.J. Dilda produced 2 singles and 2 doubles, while scoring 1 run and driving in 2. Trent Akins earned the win to go to 3-2. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits, with 1 walk and 4 strikeouts in 5.2 innings of work. Alex Stanley sewed up the save, his 7th.
Tampa used the timely hitting of Pedro Ramírez to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Tarpons on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I'm not out here to win a beauty contest," said Dilda. "Obviously."
Florida's current losing streak is now 4 games.
