Owls Hold Off Red Sox, 2-1
|
The Oxford Owls eked out a 2-1 win versus the Salem Red Sox at Salem Memorial Baseball Stadium. Nobody did more than pitcher Oscar Goodrich. He was terrific. Andy Garcia was called on to finish, recording his 4th save. The Owls boast a remarkable 23-5 record.
Chip Quinn, the 21-year old second baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Quinn contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the second inning to put Oxford up, 2-0.
"There are no moral victories," said losing manager Dave Cornaby.
