The Oxford Owls and Dunedin Blue Jays put on a pitchers' duel.
Owen O'Connor was on the winning side of a pitcher's duel at Ballpark of Oxford. In fact, the Oxford Owls right-hander was instrumental in his team's 1-0 victory over the Dunedin Blue Jays. Consuelo Saldivar earned the save, his 2nd, for the Owls.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Owls had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the second, when left fielder Brent Shaw hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Ean Wood and made the score 1-0, Owls. Shaw went 3-3 with 3 singles and a walk.
"It's nice to deliver when your team's counting on you," said Shaw.
The win puts Oxford at 16-9.
