|
St. Lucie beat Tampa on the strength of starting pitcher Jock Pike's fine effort. The left-hander led his team to a win, 7-1. Pike got the win, improving to 1-1. He gave up 3 hits and walked 2 over 5.1 innings. He allowed no runs. The Tarpons fall to 8-18 and continue their sub-.500 start to the 2061 season.
Nick Brock had a big 2-run double for the Mets in the bottom of the fourth inning. With St. Lucie leading 1-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a sinker from Camden Lightfoot, who is tied for 9th in the ECL in innings pitched with 31.2, and swatted a double to left. It was his 4th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Mets ahead, 3-0.
"I went out and just tried to do my job," said Pike.
