Mariners Earn Clutch Win, 4-3
The Virginia Beach Mariners defeated the Traverse City Pit Spitters, 4-3, in part because of first baseman Elroy Sharpe. Sharpe went 2 for 2 with a double, 2 walks, and was hit by a pitch for the Mariners. The win moves Virginia Beach to a record of 12-12.

Dean Schillerstrom was the walk-off hero for Virginia Beach. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Mariners third baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"This place sure got loud," said Alex Salcedo, the Virginia Beach manager.
