Lakeland Defeats Winston-Salem, 5-1
|
Pitcher Dave Semerdjian was sensational for the Lakeland Flying Tigers in his team's 5-1 triumph over the Winston-Salem Dash. Semerdjian earned the win. Semerdjian, the winner, moves to 1-1. He threw 6.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 2 walks. Lakeland has a record of 2-6.
Lakeland used a clutch at-bat from Tim Jensen to capture the win. The center fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Flying Tigers ahead, 2-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"Every time I step on the mound, I want to go out there and compete and bring my best game," said Semerdjian.
