Stone Crabs Need Extra Frames to Get Past Hillcats
The Charlotte Stone Crabs and Lynchburg Hillcats lit up the scoreboard.

The Charlotte Stone Crabs downed the Lynchburg Hillcats, 11-8, in 10 innings. Judson Bermudes led the way, going 4-for-5 for Charlotte. Patrick Nettles earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 2 hits in 1.1 innings. He upped his record to 1-0. Kaleb Austin earned the save for Charlotte, his 1st of the year.

The Hillcats had been locked in a 8-8 tie with the Stone Crabs going into the top of the tenth inning. That changed quickly when the 24-year old shortstop Hunter Pipkins came to the plate. Pipkins hit a run-scoring double on a full count fastball from Lynchburg hurler Tyler Thurston. It was Pipkins's 2nd double of the year.

In postgame remarks, Bermudes said: "I'm proud of our guys, of their fight."

The loss drops the Hillcats to 2-2.
