In a tight contest between the Martinez Clippers and the Visalia Rawhide, Turner Garcia was the determining factor. The Martinez left-hander sparkled in his team's 3-2 win. Jerry Eckert closed the door for Martinez, picking up his 18th save of the year. The second-place Clippers are now 84-52, the Rawhide 76-60.
The Clippers got a big at-bat from shortstop Dany Espinal. For the game, Espinal was 1 for 4 with a home run. In the top of the sixth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 5th home run of the season gave Martinez a 3-2 lead.
"Tough loss," said Visalia manager Craig Hodge. "But we'll learn from it."
