Robbins Propels Santa Cruz Offense in 11-3 Rout
|
The Santa Cruz Cruisers handed the Visalia Rawhide a sound defeat, 11-3, at Rawhide Ballpark. T.J. Robbins was a main contributor to the win. He slugged 2 home runs, while scoring 3 times and driving in 4 for Santa Cruz. Todd Richardson went 6.2 innings, allowing 2 runs on 5 hits. The right-hander struck out 5 and walked 0. With the win, he's now 3-4 this season. The Rawhide, now 76-57, have lost 5 straight.
Sampson McNally had a big 2-run double for the Cruisers in the top of the second inning. With Santa Cruz leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a fastball from 23-year old right-handed pitcher Bob Aller and swatted a double to left. It was his 4th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Cruisers ahead, 3-0.
"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said McNally.
