Storm Take Down Silverados, 3-2
|
Lake Elsinore picked up a win at Lake Elsinore Diamond, bumping off the Napa Silverados, 3-2. Pitcher Larry Burley was a major reason the Storm emerged victorious. The save went to Lanny Whitten, number 27 for him. The last-place Storm go to 45-88.
The game was at a stalemate until shortstop Michael Wood came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Napa pitcher Tim Woodard, he hit a 1-0 sinker for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Lake Elsinore on top, 3-1.
"Larry pitched like a son-of-a-gun," said Lake Elsinore manager Kevin Cornell.
