Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Ventura Gulls and Bakersfield Blaze.

The 4-3 Ventura win over Bakersfield was due largely to B.J. Seiden. The Gulls second baseman was 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Leo De La Cruz came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 3 innings. His record now stands at 5-1. Levi Denton closed it out for Ventura, earning his 12th save.

Seiden had a timely hit for Ventura in the bottom of the sixth. With Ventura trailing 3-2, he turned a first pitch fastball into a 2-run home run. It was his 13th home run of the season, making it 4-3, Ventura.

"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Ventura skipper Wayne Dahl. "I can't complain."

Ventura is 75-61 and Bakersfield, with the loss, 66-70.
