Lake Elsinore right fielder Blackie Beard picked up 3 ribbies while helping his team beat back the Lancaster JetHawks, 4-3. Kyle Raza got the save, his 1st in 1 chances. The Storm raised their record to 47-87.
Beard contributed a big hit, a 2-run double, for Lake Elsinore in the top of the second. With his team trailing 1-0, Beard took a changeup from Wayne Lafler and stroked the double to left. His 1st double of the season allowed the Storm to leap in front, 2-1.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Lancaster manager Juan Pablo Sánchez said, following the tough loss.
