JetHawks Suffer 8-2 Setback
|
The Lancaster JetHawks got a superb performance from pitcher Travis Mitchel, but the Ventura Gulls still won the game, 8-2. Mitchel threw 6.0 innings of shutout ball. The first-place Gulls sport a record of 80-52.
Ventura used the timely hitting of Godwin Powers to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Gulls on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
Powers called the triumph "a good team win."
