Red Wave Lose, 6-3, to Sonoma
|
The Sonoma Stompers finished off the Riverside Red Wave, 6-3. Much of the credit belonged to catcher Daniël Schulster. Schulster was 4-4 with 4 singles and a walk. He scored 2 times for the Stompers. Sergio Vásquez notched his 8th save in 10 chances. The Stompers win now puts them at 70-60.
Sonoma used a well-timed hit by Michael Nuñez to capture the win. The left fielder socked a run-scoring double in the top of the third inning to put the Stompers ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"It's always nice to be on the winning side," Nuñez told the Sonoma Daily News. "But we take nothing for granted."
