Mavericks Earn 7-2 Home Win
|
The 7-2 High Desert win over Modesto was due in large part to Paul Anderson. The Mavericks shortstop went 3-4 with 3 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The 7th-place Mavericks improved to 49-80.
Rutherford Sherman had a big 2-run home run for the Mavericks in the bottom of the second inning. With High Desert leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from Lance Vincent, who is tied for 3rd in the CAL in wins with 12, and punished it. The result was his 4th home run of the season, which put the Mavericks on top, 3-0.
