Benjamin Goes on Rampage Against Silverados
|
A jubilant Chase Benjamin joined the postgame press conference at Jackie Robinson Ballpark to offer some unusual words of encouragement -- for the Napa Silverados pitching staff he had just vanquished.
"It may not have looked like it," said the Visalia Rawhide shortstop, "but I saw some awful good pitches today. If luck hadn't been on my side it might have turned out a lot different."
That would not have been the conclusion of anyone who saw his dominant 5-for-5 hitting performance, which led to the 10-4 Rawhide win.
"He made it look easy," said Francisco Hichez, manager of the Silverados. "We never figured out what to do with him. Obviously."
Chase Benjamin hit a two-run double in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a GRAND SLAM off Hélio Cuevas in the 4th, singled in the 5th, walked in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
So far in 2063 Benjamin is batting .267 with 12 home runs, 46 RBIs and 39 runs scored. He has 109 hits in 408 at-bats and a .327 OBP.
