Rattlers Fall, 5-3, to San Bernardino
|
Though the conditions were not ideal, the San Bernardino Stampede and Rancho Cucamonga Rattlers came back from a rain delay to finish their game.
Rancho Cucamonga left fielder Roberto Cruz had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Cruz was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once, even as San Bernardino beat the Rattlers, 5-3. Matteo Mathis came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.2 innings. His record now stands at 5-2. Axel Plute closed the door for San Bernardino, picking up his 8th save of the year.
Connor Hurley helped out the San Bernardino cause in the top of the seventh inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the center fielder was 3-5 with 3 singles.
"Enjoyed this one," Hurley told the San Bernardino Chronicle. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
San Bernardino goes to 60-66, Rancho Cucamonga to 69-57.
