The Ventura Gulls defeated the San Jose Giants, 12-6, at Gulls Ballpark. Ventura first baseman Ted Overton had a superb performance. He went 4-5 with 4 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Ventura starter Ethan Truan was credited with the win after throwing 89 pitches over 5.2 innings. His record now stands at 14-5. Ventura is in third place in the California League South Division with a record of 72-55.

James Pruden had a big 2-run double for the Gulls in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Ventura leading 5-3 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a fastball from 25-year old right-handed pitcher Eric Hsi and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 9th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Gulls ahead, 7-3.

"We're in a little funk right now and we've just got to get ourselves out of it," said San Jose manager Leon Becerra.
