Red-Hot Cruisers Win Again
|
The Santa Cruz Cruisers extended their winning streak.
The Santa Cruz Cruisers defeated the Riverside Red Wave, 7-1, at Roger Dean Stadium. Aden Fenton, who is tied for 6th in the CAL in runs scored with 73, was a standout performer for Santa Cruz. His 3 hits included 2 singles and 1 double -- this in addition to the 3 runs he scored and 1 he knocked in. Mike Martinson got the win, improving to 4-1. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 5 hits and 1 run, while striking out 3 and walking 2.
Ronnie Hurst hit a 2-run triple off Donovan Chatman in the top of the seventh, which put the Cruisers in front, 3-1. In addition to the triple, Hurst had 2 singles and 1 walk, while going 3 for 4.
"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said Santa Cruz manager Logan Mayhew.
The third-place Cruisers have won 8 in a row.
