Starting pitcher Gary Walsh fulfilled his part of the bargain, helping the Lancaster JetHawks stymie the Stockton Ports, 5-2. Lancaster is 58-64 and Stockton, with the loss, 58-64.
The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Pop Faison came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Stockton pitcher Diego Olivo, he hit a full count fastball for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Lancaster on top, 4-2.
"Gary is one tough son of a gun," said Lancaster manager Dave Donnelly.
