The Ventura Gulls did just enough to sneak past the Lake Elsinore Storm, 3-2, at Gulls Ballpark. Ventura pitcher Rafferty Boyer, in particular, had a standout performance. Boyer picked up the win for Ventura, going 6.1 innings. He gave up no runs on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 11-5. Earning the save was Jonathan Wilson. He's now cashed in 22 of 25 save opportunities.

Will Macie had a big run-scoring double for the Gulls in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Ventura leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from Hector Arenas and swatted a double to center. It was his 5th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Gulls ahead, 2-0.

"It's nice to come out on top today," said Boyer.

Ventura improves to 72-49 with the win. They lead their division by 6 games.
