Diamonds Rally Late to Clip Martinez

The Pittsburg Diamonds picked up a win at Daniel S. Frawley Stadium, taking down the Martinez Clippers, 5-4. Starting pitcher J.R. Gillespie was a big reason why. Pittsburg reliever Vicente Dávila picked up the win, upping his record to 2-6. Lincoln Hulbert was saddled with the loss. The triumph makes Pittsburg 32-90.
Had Bill Parr not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Parr hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Diamonds.
Said Pittsburg manager Chris Boeing: "At the end of the day, these guys have to perform between the lines, and I think they did."
