Stampede Snatch Late-Game, 6-5 Win
|
The San Bernardino Stampede topped the Modesto Nuts, 6-5, the lion's share of the credit going to designated hitter Rod Foster. On the day, Foster went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs for the Stampede. San Bernardino pitcher Axel Plute earned the win, hiking his record to 5-4. Johnny Embry suffered the loss. The Stampede sit in 6th place in the California League South Division with a record of 57-64.
San Bernardino got a clutch hit from Maddox Silas. The first baseman launched a 3-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a kill shot.
"This place was electric at the end," Foster said.
