The Stockton Ports withstood an impressive performance by Pittsburg left fielder Vlad Aranda to defeat the Diamonds, 6-5, at Banner Island Ballpark. Aranda was 2-3 with 2 home runs and was hit by a pitch, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Pittsburg is in the throes of a losing streak which has reached 28 games.

The Ports got a big at-bat from right fielder Sherman Cruz. For the game, Cruz was 2 for 4 with 2 doubles. He drove in 3 runs. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run double. His 19th double of the season gave Stockton a 4-2 lead.

"No one likes losing," said Pittsburg manager Joe Reyes. "But we'll turn this thing around."
