Santa Cruz Beats Pittsburg in Extra Innings
|
The Santa Cruz Cruisers outlasted Elijah March and the Pittsburg Diamonds, 8-6, in 10 innings. March was impressive in the loss. The Pittsburg third baseman went 2-4 with 2 doubles and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Santa Cruz pitcher Bruno Gonsalez got the win. He's now 2-1. Vicente Dávila was tagged with the loss. Grant Bell earned the save, his 23rd, for the Cruisers.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Ross Thach? The Santa Cruz third baseman had a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Cruisers on top, 4-3. For the game, Thach had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"We just battled, never quit, and continued to grind out at-bats trying to create some opportunities," said Santa Cruz manager Justin Higginbotham.
Pittsburg has now lost 4 consecutive games.
