Martinez Wins, 6-1, Behind 2 Butler Home Runs
|
The 6-1 Martinez win over Sonoma was due largely to Mark Butler. The Clippers right fielder belted 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Lincoln Hulbert sewed up the save, his 4th. With the win, Martinez raised its record to 54-54.
Butler had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a 1-0 fastball from Schuyler Henschke, he banged a 3-run home run to right, giving the Clippers a 3-0 lead. It was the 3rd home run of the year for Butler.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Martinez manager Josiah Gordon.
