Black Bears Score Late, Clip ValleyCats, 2-1
|
West Virginia Black Bears starter Jackson Moebs turned in a sterling performance against the Tri-City ValleyCats, leading his team to a slim, 2-1 win. Earning his 1st save for West Virginia was Bear Bridges. The win puts West Virginia at 1-1.
Irving Rodriguez was 1 for 2 with a walk for West Virginia. The 20-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Jacob Johnson. It was his 1st RBI of the season.
"Every loss stings," said Tri-City manager Jim Kleeman. "This one is no exception."
