Nuts Drop Clippers, 4-3
|
Benjamim Carvalho, who is tied for 9th in the CAL with a 1.01 WHIP, had a strong outing for the Modesto Nuts against the Martinez Clippers at John Thurman Field. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 4-3 win. Modesto pitcher Brantley Espey got the win. He's now 1-0. Gunner DeHaan was tagged with the loss. John Phillips earned save number 37 this season.
Modesto took a 4-3 lead on Camden Taylor's 4th home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which Taylor hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Martinez pitcher Gunner DeHaan visibly frustrated.
"Benjamim pitches well when he gets lathered up," said Modesto manager Bryce Salisbury.
The Nuts move to 83-18 with the win, while the Clippers drop to 49-52.
