Red-Hot Nuts Win Again
|
The Modesto Nuts beat the Pittsburg Diamonds, 10-2, at Daniel S. Frawley Stadium. The win was due in part to center fielder Willard McKeon, who was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Jonah Maisonnial, who is tied for 3rd in the CAL in wins with 9, was the winning pitcher. Over 6.1 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 5 hits, with 2 walks and 7 strikeouts. The Nuts, at 76-18, have a comfortable 15-game lead in their division.
Modesto used the hitting of Jack Latham to pick up the win. The second baseman clubbed a solo home run in the top of the first inning to put the Nuts on top, 1-0. For the game, Latham had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"We'll keep riding this wave as long as we can," said Nuts manager Mark Pollack.
