Diamonds Take Tight Tilt
|
The Pittsburg Diamonds defeated the Sonoma Stompers, 4-3, at Bright House Field. Pittsburg was led by 23-year old center fielder Gregorio Paz, who was 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk. Pittsburg pitcher Francisco Carrillo earned the win, hiking his record to 2-3. Benjamin Magalhes suffered the loss. Despite the win, the Diamonds still have a lousy 17-76 record.
It could have been a different outcome for Pittsburg, had it not been for Jefferson Sepulveda, the 22-year old shortstop . Sepulveda contributed a 2-run single in the top of the fifth inning to put Pittsburg up, 4-3.
"We did the things that it takes to win a game," said Paz.
