McKinstry Helps Stampede Defeat Red Wave, 11-6
|
Jackson McKinstry put on a hitting clinic in helping San Bernardino beat Riverside, 11-6. McKinstry had 1 single and 2 doubles for the Stampede. He also scored 2 runs and knocked in 4. San Bernardino reliever Axel Encina picked up the win, raising his record to 4-2. Netuno Hernandez was tagged with the loss. San Bernardino goes to 47-41, Riverside to 47-41.
McKinstry contributed a big hit, a 2-run double, for San Bernardino in the bottom of the first. With his team trailing 1-0, McKinstry took a changeup from Netuno Hernandez and stroked the double to right-center. His 14th double of the season allowed the Stampede to leap in front, 2-1.
"We maximized our offense today," said San Bernardino skipper Stephon Cohen. "That makes everyone's life easier."
