Ports Get Hard-Earned Win, Stop Gulls, 2-1

The Stockton Ports had to overcome a fine performance from Ventura pitcher A.J. O'Neill to grab a 2-1 win at Gulls Ballpark. O'Neill allowed no runs over 6.2 innings. Lucas Metzler, credited with the win, is now 1-0. He allowed no runs on no hits. Stockton now sits at 42-44, while Ventura falls to 53-33.
Stockton used a clutch hit from Lían Carlos Cotto to get the win. The pinch hitter drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Ports ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"It feels good to get this one," Cotto told the Stockton News.
