Garza Delivers 1-0 Win
|
The San Bernardino Stampede got a magnificent performance from pitcher José Garza, who muffled the Rancho Cucamonga offense en route to a tight, 1-0 Stampede win at Grainger Stadium. Jayden Wright earned the save for San Bernardino, his 27th. San Bernardino, at 52-36, sits in first place in the California League South Division.
Garza, who has sometimes raised the ire of coaches and teammates with his famously lackadaisical work ethic, turned in a spirited effort. The hurler struck out 8 in 6.1 innings and gave up no runs.
Garza, who is tied for 9th in the CAL in innings pitched with 104.2, moves to 10-5 on the year with 109 strikeouts.
"There are no moral victories," said losing manager Pierrick Gardella.
