Olivant Blisters San Jose
|
It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 5-for-5 day. For many, it might come around only once in a career -- and for Wyatt Olivant, it came around today.
The 22-year-old first baseman scattered hits all over Jackie Robinson Ballpark to pace the 9-3 Napa Silverados victory over the San Jose Giants.
San Jose skipper Leon Becerra told reporters in the press room that "Olivant deserves a hat-tip."
"He hit some good pitches against us," he said. "In fact, according to our scouting reports, Olivant hit several that he is not supposed to be able to hit."
Wyatt Olivant singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, hit a three-run home run off Abel Babujyan in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 8th.
Olivant's current batting average stands at .309 and he has chalked up 2 home runs and 8 RBIs.
