Ports Win Nail-Biter, 2-1
|
The Stockton Ports defeated the Riverside Red Wave, 2-1, in 11 innings in California League action at Banner Island Ballpark. Stockton pitcher Eddy Bont had a standout performance. The win was credited to 23-year old left-handed pitcher Diego Olivo in relief. His record improves to 5-2. Lennox Isaacs took the loss. Riverside now owns a losing streak of 5 games.
The Ports got a clutch hit from third baseman Tyler Groves. In the bottom of the 11th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Ports.
"This was one of those 'not to be denied' games," said Stockton field general Tristan Batista.
