Visalia pitcher Jenell Giddins had a large part in his team subduing the Lake Elsinore Storm, 2-1. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the right-hander. Visalia is now 25-53.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Rawhide had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fifth, when center fielder Emanuel Veniard hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Tito Metheney and made the score 2-1, Rawhide. Veniard was 1-4.
"That's baseball," said Lake Elsinore manager Kevin Cornell. "Sometimes the other team plays better than yours."
