Skidding Diamonds Lose 13th Straight
|
Rancho Cucamonga and Pittsburg took Mother Nature's best shot and still managed to complete their ballgame.
Pittsburg wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Francisco Carrillo, falling to the Rancho Cucamonga Rattlers, 8-1. Carrillo threw 7.0 innings of 2-hit ball for the losing team. The Diamonds, now 12-67, have lost 13 in a row.
Hamilton Curtis went 1 for 5 for Rancho Cucamonga. The 26-year old right fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the eighth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Lucas Alvare. It was his 24th RBI of the season.
"Oh, what I'd give for just one win," bellowed Pittsburg manager Chris Carpenter.
