Down Go Diamonds Again, 7-3
|
The Pittsburg Diamonds extended their losing streak with a defeat by the Rancho Cucamonga Rattlers.
The Rancho Cucamonga Rattlers knocked off the Pittsburg Diamonds, 7-3, in California League action at Daniel S. Frawley Stadium. Rancho Cucamonga pitcher and Providence, Rhode Island, native Sherman Skinner had an outstanding performance. Skinner got the win, improving to 4-7. He gave up 5 hits and walked 0 over 6.1 innings. He allowed 1 run.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Roberto Cruz? The Rancho Cucamonga left fielder had a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Rattlers on top, 2-0. For the game, Cruz had 1 double and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.
"This losing is getting old," said Pittsburg manager Chris Carpenter.
The last-place Diamonds now sit at 12-65.
