Blaze Get 8-1 Win Versus Pittsburg
|
The Bakersfield Blaze downed the Pittsburg Diamonds, 8-1, at Jim Perry Stadium. Stellar pitching by Mike Hankerson had a lot to do with it. The right-hander handcuffed his opponent all game. Hankerson yielded 1 run over 8.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 6. His record improves to 2-0. The Diamonds, at 20-58, have lost 6 straight games.
Morgan Mock had a big 3-run home run for the Blaze in the bottom of the third inning. With Bakersfield leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a fastball from 23-year old right-handed pitcher Jayden Gore and punished it. The result was his 2nd home run of the season, which put the Blaze on top, 4-0.
"I wish every win came this easy," said Mock.
