Udder Tuggers Topple Diamonds with Late Rally
|
Temecula and Pittsburg played a hard-fought contest.
Pittsburg got a big-time effort from pitcher Jacob St. Pierre, but it wasn't enough to keep the Temecula Udder Tuggers from winning the game, 3-2. St. Pierre threw 7.2 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. Sergio Maldonado got the save, his 8th in 10 chances.
Temecula needed the clutch hitting of Vincent Ellis to seal the deal. The first baseman swatted a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Udder Tuggers on top, 3-2. For the game, Ellis had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"You have to win 1-0, 3-2, 2-1 games if you want to get to where you want to go," said Udder Tuggers manager Richard Ossman.
Temecula, with the win, sits at 28-52.
