Giants Get Hard-Earned Win, Stop Blaze, 2-1
|
The San Jose Giants defeated the Bakersfield Blaze, 2-1, in California League action at San Jose Municipal Stadium. San Jose pitcher Joshua Scott had a standout performance. Lewis Crossly got credit for the win, improving to 2-3. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. Brian Lochridge recorded the save for San Jose, his 8th of the season.
Dylan Nicita went 1 for 3 with a walk for San Jose. The 23-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the third. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Ben Sisco. It was his 27th RBI of the season.
"Runs were tough to come by," said Scott. "But we scored just enough to win."
The 5th-place Giants have a record of 45-33.
